Worthing Wheel

WOW – WORTHING OBSERVATION WHEEL

Joanna James Ltd. are delighted to have been involved in the Worthing Observation Wheel planning phase of installation this summer.

We were commissioned to create a 3D model of the existing built environment and position in-situ the proposed development wheel from plans provided by client as well as create unique rendered views from given GPS points.

REMIT

The above interactive 3D model of the wheel in-situ was a deliverable that made this project particularly interesting for us.

We were tasked with helping people understand the concept – particularly people who don’t use specialist industry software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup or Revit etc…. So for eg general public, planning teams, local residents, councillors.

Uploading the proposal plus environs to a web-based platform as per above allowed our client to demonstrate the wheel’s impact very vividly; bringing the proposal to life.

THE WHEEL

The biggest observation wheel on the South Coast officially been opened Worthing seafront in July 2019.

The Worthing Observation Wheel – or WOW – in Montague Place stands 46 meters tall, or the height of just under eleven double-decker buses.

It contains 36 pods, with each having the space for six people, and takes them to see views across the Sussex coast, the Downs and the English Channel.

For this project deliverables included:

  • Digital 3D Model – FBX format
